No.1 Silo Bridge

At the V&A Waterfront, this new pedestrian bridge spans 12.5m between No.1 Silo building (Allan Gray Head Office) and the Clock Tower building. It serves as a convenient link for Allan Gray employees to access the extra office space that they have expanded into on the first and second floors of the Clock Tower building.

The crossing position of the bridge at second floor level maintains the view corridor between the two buildings toward the working harbour, and the expressed steel girder form references the industrial maritime aesthetic of the area, particularly the language of the steel gantry along the length of the defunct Collier Jetty (Fish Quay) nearby.  A portal frame column supports the bridge close to the Allan Gray façade allowing for the structure to cantilever towards the complex double-skin glazed facade connecting with it as minimally as possible.
