House for a Builder

This existing home on the slopes of Tamboerskloof, was reconfigured to suit a young family with changing needs. The elevated site offers extensive views across the city and towards Table Mountain and the redesign sought to maximise these as well as provide opportunities for more introspective experiences. A series of courtyard/ garden spaces knits the living and sleeping spaces together maintaining appropriate levels of activity and privacy. A second floor was added allowing for the main bedroom to move upstairs to a more secluded position, simultaneously releasing much needed space to the living areas downstairs.
